===== Magical Uses ===== The cross stone, apparently a form of andalusite, is found in coarse crystals. When these are broken open or sliced, they display a symmetrical cross pattern of alternating light and dark colors. Because of its shape, the cross stone is worn or carried by those practicing elemental magic, or by those wishing to balance the four elements within themselves. It is carried, worn, or placed on the altar for power during magical rituals of all kinds. As with all stones exhibiting unusual shapes or patterns, it is carried for luck. ===== Ritual Lore ===== When a friend of mine returned from six months in northern California, she brought with her, among many other wonders, a piece of cross stone. Though she called it "fairy cross" (or fairy crosses), I recognized it as cross stone. Shamans often include a piece of this stone in their medicine or power bags, and it is a favorite item to exchange with others during "giveaways."
