===== Magical Uses ===== Given to your cat, catnip creates a psychic bond between the two of you. It is also intoxicating to the cat. Catnip is used in love sachets, usually in conjunction with rose petals. If you hold catnip in your hand until it is warm, then hold anyone else's hand; they will forever be your friend, as long as you keep the catnip you used for the spell in some safe place. Grown near the home or hung over the door, catnip attracts good spirits and great luck. Catnip is also used in spells designed to enhance beauty and happiness. Large catnip leaves are pressed and used as bookmarks in magical texts. ===== Aromatherapy ===== Rats are supposed to detest the odor of catnip. Catnip is well known to anyone who has ever treated a feline to a bit of the herb. Its odor is penetrating and rather peculiar, and is strongest in the fresh leaves. It seems to intoxicate cats but, taken internally, has a sedative effect upon human beings. Sniff the aroma of catnip to promote peace and happiness, especially after some trying experience. To enhance inner and outer beauty, take a few fresh catnip leaves to a mirror. Stand before it, gazing into the reflection of your eyes. With the palette of your mind, alter your appearance in whatever manner most pleases you. When you have this visualization firmly in mind (with your eyes open, still staring at your reflection), inhale the odor of catnip at least three times. Upon each inhalation sharpen your vision. Repeat once every three days.
