===== Magical Uses ===== Burned as an incense, cloves attract riches, drive away hostile and negative forces, produce spiritual vibrations, and purify the area. Cloves are burned as an incense to stop others from gossiping about you. Worn or carried, cloves attract the opposite sex and bring comfort to the bereaved. ===== Aromatherapy ===== Clove is among the most aromatic of culinary spices. Its aroma, perhaps the ultimate “spicy” fragrance, has many magical uses. Every morning for at least a week, crush a few dried cloves while visualizing yourself as maintaining (or regaining) health. Continue to visualize as you smell the delicious aroma. Regularly sniffing freshly ground cloves strengthens the conscious mind and, in the process, facilitates the retrieval of long-buried memories. In trying to recall “forgotten” information, inhale and visualize yourself remembering it. The aroma is also excellent for strengthening your ability to memorize new data. Because of its pervasive odor, clove can also be used to boost our built-in protective systems utilizing a ritual such as the one outlined for black pepper above. To heighten courage, sniff the fragrance and symbolically face the enemy. Do this //with visualization//, seeing yourself as calm and ready to take on the world (or at least that part of it which is bothering you). Clove essential oil, whether distilled from leaf, bud or stem, is irritating to the skin and should not be used.
