===== Magical Uses ===== Lemon juice is mixed with water and the resultant mixture is used to wash amulets, jewelry and other magical objects which have been obtained second-hand. This wash ensures that all negative vibrations are cleansed from the object in question. The juice is also added to bath water at the time of the full Moon for its purificatory powers. The dried flowers and peel are added to love sachets and mixtures, and the leaves are used in lust teas. A lemon tree grown from a seed which was taken from a lemon that you have consumed is a highly appropriate gift to a loved one, although admittedly this is a long process. Lemon pie, served to a spouse, will help strengthen fidelity, and a slice of fresh lemon placed beneath a visitor's chair ensures that your friendship will last. Obtain a green (unripe) lemon from a tree. It should be no larger than 11/2 inches in diameter. Next, obtain some color-headed pins. Every color except black is fine; if any blackheaded pins are present remove them. Now stick the pins, one at a time, into the lemon, until it is fairly bristling with them. Attach a piece of yarn or ribbon to the lemon and hang up in the home to bring blessings and luck, or give to a friend. These "lemon and pins" charms are easy to make and are quite effective, too. A lemon may serve as a poppet. ===== Aromatherapy ===== The essential oil, cold pressed from the outer rind of lemons, has the crisp, clean scent of the fruit itself. If you can’t obtain the essential oil, simply grate off the colored “skin” of one lemon, wrap in a thin cotton cloth, squeeze and inhale for the following uses. (What to do with the nude lemon? Squeeze it, dilute its juice with water and drink, preferably without sugar, for its general tonic action on the physical body. Evidence suggests that lemon juice, taken internally, stimulates white corpuscles to fight off infections. It is also mildly stimulating.) Inhale the refreshing scent to maintain health and as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment. Visualize its energies strengthening your body as well as the two minds that control it. In the case of illness, see the fragrance fighting off the infection. For wounds, visualize the aroma encouraging cell growth and the resultant healing. The lively scent also activates the body, dispelling sluggishness. Inhaling fresh lemon zest or the essential oil first thing in the morning is the aromatic substitute for a cup of coffee. Visualize its fragrance revitalizing and stimulating the central nervous system. Additionally, inhale the aroma for purification. Place a few drops into a diffusor or potpourri simmerer and feel the energies of your home vibrate and hum with purity. Adding undiluted lemon essential oil to the bath or rubbing it into the skin will cause irritation and is best avoided.
