===== Magical Uses =====

If this plant is hung around the neck, or a bit of its juice is drunk, it will preserve you from dreaming.

Lemon verbena is also worn to make oneself attractive to the opposite sex, and is used in love spells and mixtures.

The herb is added to other mixtures to increase their strength, and is sometimes utilized to purify an area, or is added to bath water for purificatory purposes.

===== Aromatherapy =====

All these "lemon" plants and their essential oils are often confused. Lemon verbena is even more likely to be misnamed, as some believe the plant (especially by the name verbena) to be identical with Vervain (//Verbena officinalis//), an entirely different plant. True lemon verbena essential oil is expensive and, not surprisingly, has the familiar scent.

The fresh leaves, when you can obtain them (see why you should grow herbs?), are far less costly. This herb has been used to excite spiritual love since it was brought from its native Chile to Europe about 200
years ago. Crush the fresh leaves or inhale the essential oil and visualize.

It is also a wonderful purifier, inhaled or added to a diffusor. But don't add the essential oil to your bathwater.
