Lilac drives away evil where it is planted or strewn, and indeed in New England lilacs were originally planted to keep evil from the property.

The flowers, fresh, can be placed in a haunted house to help clear it.

===== Aromatherapy =====

The scent of fresh lilac flowers was once thought to drive away ghosts.

Like many flowers, lilacs can be utilized in love-expansion rituals. The sweet fragrance of these seasonal blooms brims with loving energies.

Or, inhale the aroma rising from the light purple flowers for internal purification. To cleanse a home, place jars of the fresh flowers in several rooms.

Lilacs are scarce around these parts, since most species must freeze in order to produce blooms. Still, I manage to smell the flowers once or twice yearly.

No true lilac essential oil is currently available.
