===== Magical Uses ===== Use to improve the memory and mind. When placed in a room, these flowers cheer the heart and lift the spirits of those present. ===== Aromatherapy ===== Apollo was credited with finding this plant and presenting it to Aesculapius. The well-known and dangerous effects of lily of the valley apply to its internal use, but not to its fragrance. Once again, don’t eat, drink, add to your bath water or rub onto your skin any substance that you’re not specifically directed to use in these ways. Just a reminder! This tiny plant produces sprays of white, bell-shaped flowers that emit what Culpeper calls a “pleasant, grateful scent.” The aroma instills peace and strengthens the conscious mind. With visualization, the scent will heighten your ability to recall old information and strengthen your powers of memory. The flowers have to be harvested to be used for these purposes. The last time I smelled lily of the valley I got down on all fours, stuck my left ear onto the Earth and sniffed away. Not exactly a position that induces calm. Though the cut flowers are occasionally available in florist establishments in springtime, no true lily of the valley essential oil is available.
