===== Magical Uses ===== Woodruff is carried to attract money and prosperity, to bring victory to athletes and warriors, and when placed in a sachet of leather, it guards against all harm. ===== Aromatherapy ===== Woodruff has been used in European folk magic since at least 1000 C.E. It is well known as a flavoring ingredient in May Wine, a traditional drink of May 1st. The plant emits a warm, vanilla-like odor but doesn’t possess the same properties as do other plants which produce this aroma (such as deerstongue and tonka). The fragrance is inhaled with visualization for internal spiritual purification. One side effect of such a ritual may be a feeling of peace and happiness. Due to its usage in folk magic, the scent is also inhaled in conjunction with the proper visualizations to ensure success in all pursuits.
