Viking Iconography and Symbolism

Sometime ago, I found and saved a low-resolution black-and-white scan of a photograph of a couple of Bronze Age artifacts - a Swedish vessel and a Greek pendant, both from long before the establishment of Christianity. This paper discusses the cosmological religious beliefs of various White nations during the Bronze Age (3300 BCE - 1200 BCE). Sun worship was very common back then, as our sun, Sol, is one of the most fundamental, crucial components of our physical reality. Another article pinpoints the vessel and pendant at somewhere around 1700-1600 BCE.

In any event, I was really taken by both symbols, and spent some time recreating them as usable vectors. I've provided a nice version of the main vector, as well as files for cutting and drawing the symbols and accompanying decorations. Note: Files forthcoming.

The linked double swirl found in both of these artifacts can be seen in quite a lot of the icons and images seen in many ancient European cultures. I've personally found it to be an interestingly meditative symbol - the eye can't easily follow the two swirls at first glance, and it takes closer inspection to trace the path of the swirls and lines.
