Da Vinci Tarot

This deck was originally published as a Major Arcana deck, illustrated by Iassen Ghiuselev. After the publication of The Da Vinci Code and subsequent movie adaptation, Lo Scarabeo decided to publish a complete deck, using Iassen's work as the starting point. Atanas Atanassov illustrated the minor cards, using numerous sketches and incomplete works of Leonardo Da Vinci. The result is a beautifully-illustrated deck very clearly inspired by Da Vinci's unique artistic talent and aesthetic.

This isn't a particularly intuitive deck. It mostly follows the Smith-Waite standard, so if you're already familiar with that deck (and its derivatives), this should be pretty easy to read.

I bought my copy used, since the kit with the full-size booklet is out-of-print. The cards are in very good shape and have held up well. The book is more of a booklet (it's only a few pages and stapled rather than bound), and includes comprehensive descriptions for all 78 cards, with equal attention paid to the minors. Each card includes both positive and negative elements, listed as encourages and cautions against. Illustration notes detail which Da Vinci works inspired the card. There is also commentary on the card's overall message and meaning, followed by a few introspective questions.

That being said, there are several major editing errors in the book. The exploration questions section in a few card descriptions were copy-pasted from the previous card, so I ended up adding my own content to fix these editing errors. I still recommend the complete kit if you can find it for a good price (mine was only $20 USD on eBay).
