This is by far my favorite deck for intuitive reading. I love my Alchemical Tarot (5th Edition)plugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAlchemical Tarot (5th Edition)

Deck Notes

This was my first serious Tarot deck. I found it by accident and was very strongly drawn to the artwork and heavily symbolic imagery. The Alchemical Tarot isn't a particularly intuitive deck. I didn't find many of the images to be very intuitive without the context provided by the artist's book. That said, Robert Place does an excellent job of maintaining consistency throughout his artwork's images and symbolism. Similar symbols and images are used thr…
deck, but I've found this deck to be easier to read without referencing my notes or the accompanying book. The Forest of Enchantment uses familiar Germanic fairy tale imagery combined with the archetypes found in the Tarot.

Many cards don't illustrate a mindless, literal reworking of the RWS interpretation, so if you prefer decks that aren't just rehashing the same meanings found in the RWS deck, this is one worth considering.

I've been reading through the complete fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, and many of the stories found in that collection are reflected in this deck's imagery. I've been focusing my own study of folk magic on northwestern European traditions found in the British Isles, Germania, and Scandinavia.

If you're familiar with common western European fairy tales, this deck will be a pleasure to read intuitively. Fairy tales have served as moral parables in our society for many centuries, following in the footsteps of the oral traditions of our European ancestors. These cards offer even more depth through the connection to these traditional tales. The cultural elements found in this deck make it a brilliant choice for anyone looking to forge new bonds to your own ancestral heritage.

Production Quality

Like most Llewellyn decks, this is printed on lightweight cardstock with edge-to-edge images. I definitely recommend sleeving this deck if you plan on using it regularly.

The book that accompanies this deck is beautiful - it's a large book with full-color, glossy pages. Every card is pictured on a full 5.5×8.5“ page opposite a complete description. Several suggested layouts are provided, as well. The box is large with a magnetic flap closure. The interior insert for the deck can easily be removed if you want to use the box for storage.
