After two bad decks, I figured I was probably done buying Lo Scarabeo imprints. Shows how much I know! I stumbled across this deck after finding my interest in Celtic mythology and imagery reinvigorated, in part since AncestryDNA's 2020 update revealed I have more Celtic stock in me than I'd previously believed.

Although Celtic mythology does have a lot of malevolent, chaotic spiritual entities, this deck isn't overly focused on such creatures, which I really appreciate. I used this deck for the first time in my Politics: Election 2020 reading, and was surprised at how natural and intuitive the reading was.

I really wish the LWB were more comprehensive with this deck. Lo Scarabeo decks are notorious for having very short LWBs, since they prefer to release multilingual imprints rather than individually-localized books. It would be amazing if Lo Scarabeo offered complete books on their website for deck owners, as ebooks or physical books. Either way, I'd love to get more on the artwork of this deck.

Production Quality

This deck is a mixed bag. The cards are quite nice, at 4.75 x 2.75“ in size. They have a nice matte finish, and have held up pretty well to some vigorous shuffling (I tend to shuffle a lot, even if I don't end up laying out a spread). I always recommend riffle (dovetail) shuffling any deck with edge-to-edge print, to prevent chipping the edges of the card.

The box is not well-made at all. I will likely be making a chipboard box to store this deck more safely, since the edges of the flap and tabs of the box are already chipping and peeling.
