Tarot Spreads
These are the spreads I use for my own readings. I will be creating spreads and listing those here, as well.
Most of the spreads I use are generic enough that they can be found in many tarot books and resources, so I haven't included source links for most of them.

Ancestor (or Past Life)plugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigAncestor (or Past Life) Spread Notes This is a personal profile spread, specifically crafted to give you a full profile of the life and personality of an ancestor (or yourself in a past life, if that's your thing). This spread is great for getting to know a tarot deck - you can do a reading without needing either a client or a burning question, and it uses enough cards that you'll have a nice spread to analyze and read. | 14 | unknown |
Year In Reviewplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigYear In Review Spread Notes This spread can be reflective or divinatory - whichever you prefer. Each card represents a month in a calendar year; the thirteenth card is a clarifier that can be used when the meaning of a month's card is unclear. Spread | 13 | traditional |
Celtic Crossplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigCeltic Cross Spread Notes The Celtic Cross spread is considered one of the more traditional tarot spreads still in use today. It's not particularly “ancient” or esoteric, and while it's described in many LWBs and books about reading tarot, it can be a bit complicated for the novice reader. The spread is typically laid with card 2 across card 1; the cards are displayed separately here for easy reading. | 10 | unknown |
Modified Celtic Crossplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigModified Celtic Cross Spread Notes This spread was featured in the cold open for S09E05 of the NBC sitcom Cheers. The scene involved two characters evidently playing “Go Fish” with a deck of tarot cards, although the scene depicts what appears to be a modified Celtic cross spread, which is missing the cards above and below the center crossed cards. This spread is based on that scene. | 08 | unknown |
Pet Communicationplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigPet Communication Spread Notes This seven-card spread is crafted to give you a view into your beloved pet's life and well-being. Spread | 07 | unknown |
Seven-Card Horseshoeplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigSeven-Card Horseshoe Spread Notes This is a common spread used by Tarot enthusiasts of all stripes, because it's a nice, comprehensive overview of a situation or question. Some spreads position the fourth card as the self, rather than obstacles that may appear. | 07 | unknown |
Windows & Doorsplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigWindows & Doors Spread Notes This is a fairly large spread, and offers a look at both opportunities (windows) and obstacles (doors) you may be facing. I like this spread, because it helps me take a step back and reassess my situation with a clearer head. | 07 | unknown |
Six-Cardplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigSix-Card Spread Notes This is an expanded version of the Three-Card spread, taking two cards for each stage, rather than one. I usually find that two cards are better than one, as combining two images gives more context to what messages apply to the given situation. | 06 | traditional |
Deck Interviewplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigDeck Interview Spread Notes This spread is for “interviewing” a new deck - it's designed to give you a better understanding of a deck's particular qualities, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as how you might best use a specific deck. I don't typically do interview spreads with new decks, but have on occasion used this spread with surprising results. I was initially very drawn to the surrealist artwork of The Dreamkeepers Tarot, and my interview spread with this deck very much confirmed what… | 06 | unknown |

Tirage en Croix - Basicplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigTirage en Croix - Basic Spread Notes This is considered the standard tirage spread. If this spread doesn't suit your needs, a common alternative is available. Spread | 05 | unknown |
Three-Cardplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigThree-Card Spread Notes The three-card spread is one of the most commonly-used spreads in the Tarot world. The three cards can represent a variety of concepts: past-present-future, a decision with two major options and potential outcomes, even communication and interaction between different people. The images on the cards can frequently aid you in determining the meaning of a three-card spread, so you don't necessarily have to decide what each position means before you lay the cards. | 03 | traditional |

Chakra (Soul Centers) Spreadplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigChakra (Soul Centers) Spread Spread Notes This spread can be found in Mary K. Greer's Tarot for Your Self, on pages 192-196. The ancient Greek mystic and philosopher, Pythagoras, conceived of a seven-part interpretation of our existence, in which humans have cosmic soul centers aligned with different parts of the body. This correlates well to the chakras of Indian philosophy. This spread can be read in the context of either chakras or cosmic soul centers. | 10 |

Courtyard Spreadplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigCourtyard Spread Spread Notes Details of this spread can be found here. I found an image of this spread on Pinterest, which is the basis for this template. This is an event-driven spread. Instead of revealing each card as you work through the spread, you should deal the cards face up. Once the spread is dealt, determine which card is the significator - that is, the card that represents your current state of mind or being. The cards that follow this one in numerical order represent future even… | 13 | Alec Satin | |

Tirage en Croix
The Tirage en Croix is a common five-card spread that can be adapted to a variety of questions and needs. You can read a bit more about it hereplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigTirage En Croix
Spread Notes
This is an old spread that dates back to the 1870s, according to this thread. It's a simple spread that can be quite flexible. The layout and card associations lend themselves nicely to an alchemical framing, with the four arms representing the four classical elements or the four cardinal directions. You could even take this a step further, associating each minor suit with one of the arms, and the major arcana with the central card..
